How do I keep my dog's skin healthy during the rainy season?
Every September my dog gets smelly, itchy patches between his toes and on his belly. Walks end up in puddles, and the humidity makes everything damp. What do you do about drying and prevention in the wet months? Should I see the vet each time?

Yeast and fungus love this weather. If the skin turns red, smelly or greasy, go to the vet instead of treating by yourself. They'll know if it needs medicated shampoo. Also keep his coat clean and short around the paws and belly, and never leave him standing wet in an air-conditioned room.
HelpfulDry paws after every walk with a towel, especially between the toes. A hair dryer on cool setting works. Keep the belly fur short if he is a long-haired breed. A quick wipe with a diluted pet-safe antiseptic, on your vet's advice, might help on bad days, but check with them first.
HelpfulWash his bed more often and let it dry in the sun. Damp beds are the main trouble in a condo with no sunlight. The sun is rare during rains, so use a dehumidifier or a fan in the room where the bed is, and rotate his bedding often.
