Where can I find good hay for my rabbit in Thailand?
I live in Khon Kaen and the pet shop only has expensive small bags of hay. My rabbit needs lots of it every day. Does anyone order timothy hay online or have a cheaper local alternative? And is it true that rice straw or dried grass is ok?

Local dried grass cut from a clean, pesticide-free field can work, but dry it fully. Rice straw is more of a bedding than food. Ask your exotics vet before changing the diet. Pesticides are common near fields here, so wash and dry anything fresh, and avoid grass from roadsides where cars and dogs leave their marks.
HelpfulKeep hay in a dry container with airflow. Humidity ruins it very quickly in the rainy season. A small kitchen scale also helps, so you can see how much hay is eaten each day and notice quickly when the amount drops off.
HelpfulOrder in bulk from a rabbit supplier online and split the box with another owner to save on delivery. Look for fresh, green, dust-free hay that smells sweet. Moldy hay is dangerous. A good sign you chose well is when droppings are plentiful and round and the rabbit chews constantly, so watch those and adjust as needed.
