Is homemade rice and chicken enough for my dog every day?
My mother cooks rice with boiled chicken and a bit of pumpkin for our dog, as we did for all our family dogs. She is healthy and shiny, but a friend told me that is not a balanced diet. What do other Thai owners feed? Do I need to add something, or switch to a commercial food?

It's loving and fine as a base, but long term it lacks calcium and other nutrients, so ask your vet about a supplement or a proper recipe. Mixing in some complete dog food is an easy way. Check the weight and coat regularly.
HelpfulI do half home-cooked, half dry food. Add liver once a week, vegetables, and a little fish. Never onions, garlic, or cooked bones. My vet approved the mix. Also, remember that a big home-cooked batch can be portioned and frozen, which saves time and keeps the meals consistent from day to day.
HelpfulIf you keep cooking, ask your vet for a balanced recipe for her age and size. Puppies and seniors need different things. Boiled chicken without seasoning is the key, no salt or fish sauce. Dogs differ a lot, so look at the stool, coat and energy as signs. If anything looks off, a quick vet check can sort it out.
