Cat suddenly pees on the sofa instead of the litter box
My neutered male cat, three years old, has started peeing on the sofa twice this week. Nothing changed except that we got a new bag of litter and there was a lot of construction noise next door. I cleaned with detergent. How do I stop this, and is it a medical thing?

First a vet visit, because peeing outside the box in male cats can be a urinary problem, and that can become an emergency if he strains and nothing comes out. If the vet says all clear, then look at stress and litter.
HelpfulPlace boxes in quiet corners, away from his food, and scoop twice a day. Cats here deal with so much noise and heat, they act out. Cats can be sensitive to loud noise and routine changes, so give her extra play time and quiet cuddles while things settle again at home.
HelpfulSwitch back to the old litter, add one more box, and clean the sofa with an enzyme cleaner. Soap leaves a smell the cat can still find. Mine did the same during the noisy renovation and stopped after a few weeks.
