Rescued kitten keeps sneezing with watery eyes. Normal?
I took in a kitten from our soi last week. She is about eight weeks old, eats well and plays but sneezes constantly and has crusty, watery eyes. I cleaned them with warm water. Is this the usual cat flu that street kittens get? How long did it take to clear up for yours, and when is it an emergency?

Keep her away from other cats until cleared, wash your hands between pets, and wipe the eyes with a clean damp cotton pad for each eye. Steamy bathroom sessions helped her breathe. If she stops eating or breathes with an open mouth, go straight to the vet.
HelpfulVery common in kittens from the street. Mine had the same and the vet gave eye drops and a course of medication and said to keep her warm and eating. It took about two weeks. Go to the vet soon, because kittens can go downhill fast if they stop eating.
HelpfulAsk about the vaccine for cat flu once she is well. Ours came at eight and twelve weeks, and the vet checked her over at the same time. Our kitten also got a little weight check at each visit, which showed us she was gaining well even while she sneezed, and that was reassuring.
