Moving my dog from France to Thailand: where do I start with paperwork?
We will relocate to Bangkok in a few months with our dog. I have read a lot of conflicting information about the import permit, microchip, rabies titer test and quarantine. Can someone explain in general terms how it went for you? What should I do first, and which official sources should I trust?

Always check the Thai Department of Livestock Development website and your own country's vet authority, because rules change. In general: microchip, rabies vaccine, health certificate from an official vet, and an import permit applied for in advance. It is also worth asking your airline about their rules for pets in the cargo hold in the hot months, since some airlines have temperature restrictions.
HelpfulStart early, as a few steps have waiting times, like the titer test. Our airline cargo agent handled much of the process, and we paid for an agent, which was worth it. Prepare for the airport clearance step on arrival. We were pleased we had a good relocation agent, and the dog arrived calm, but the whole process took us about five months from start to finish.
HelpfulKeep every original and a copy in a folder. And I'd ask your vet at home to review the timeline, since they do it often. Join an expat pet group here for tips from people who did it recently, since the officials' requirements are updated now and then.
