How is Grab Pet really? Do drivers accept big dogs?

TPTanawat Pongsiri2 months ago971

I don't have a car and my vet is across Bangkok. I see Grab Pet in the app and wonder if anyone uses it regularly. Do the drivers accept a 25 kg dog? Do they charge extra, and should I bring a towel? I'd like to know before trying with my nervous dog.

I use it for the vet every month. The price is a bit higher but drivers have been kind. Put a blanket on the seat, keep the dog on a short lead or in a carrier, and tell the driver the size beforehand in the chat. Overall it was a reasonable experience, and the drivers love dogs. It also saves the stress of finding parking near the clinic in the middle of Bangkok.

Sometimes it takes a few extra minutes to find a driver who accepts, especially at rush hour. I book before I need it and I never had any trouble with my medium dog. It is also nice to message the driver first about any dog fears or car sickness. That's something the drivers appreciate and it prevents surprises for everyone.

For a big nervous dog I'd try a short ride first to build confidence. Bring a plastic bag and a towel, just in case of car sickness. If your dog is easily car sick, ask your vet for advice and skip a meal before the ride. Our dog improved after a few short trips.
