About
Constructed in 2005, the Wildlife Hospital at the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) is recognized as the first-ever wildlife hospital established in the country. Located in Tha Mai Ruak, Phetchaburi, it plays a vital role in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation. The facility treats hundreds of wild animals every year, including victims of the illegal wildlife trade, injured wildlife, and animals rescued from tourism or abuse. Managed by full-time veterinarians and veterinary technicians, the hospital provides emergency medical treatment, long-term care, and surgical interventions. In addition to treating wild species such as big cats, bears, elephants, and primates, the hospital extends its services to local pets and livestock as a way of giving back to the surrounding community. The hospital also hosts an educational volunteer and student placement program for qualified veterinary professionals and senior veterinary students.
Pricing
Medical services for community pets and livestock are provided to support the local population. For international veterinary volunteers and students joining the hospital program, the flat participation fee is structured at approximately €400 per week, which covers project placement and structural upkeep.
